Pleasant stay, sea view room was the highlight

Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, we had the sea view room and the View was spectacular. The pool was well maintained l, although very cold but it's May.

The room 7026 had a musky smell when we entered, and we left the window open to try and get rid of it, but it was always there. The bedroom was very stuffy, the aircon was very loud and the noise of the elevator located beside the room made it difficult to sleep.

Perfect value for the money

The building is amazing. Staff friendly. 3 pools and the indoor pool as the sauna, are small but very nice. Cave bare very cool.

Cosy, nice.

Personnel were fantastic, reacted to all requests instantly. We enjoyed the indoor pool and the sauna, and jacuzzi, all were open till late in the evening. The breakfasts were fine and more then enough. And the view from the balcony on Millieha Bay was great.

There was some constant noise heard behind the window, some generator or other equipment. Most equipment in the room was quite old, but working. AC in one of the room stopped heating, but they quickly brought us an electric heater, which worked out just fine. Navigation at the hotel was not clear at first, but it was actually fun for the kids finding way to places.

Very Good

Nice pool and view. Great breakfast It is located in a nice quiet area. Parking free outside on the top hill.

Restaurants are a bit pricey. The floors and rooms are confusing, you take different lifts to the same floor and it ends up in different areas. Then you need to open another door and take stairs down again, and you are technically still on the same floor.. In case of emergency, take the stairs...we could not find the stairs!! Maybe sometime some stairs but not all the way down. This must be improved to have clear signs. Our room smelled a bit like moist... Wifi 5/10

I like the it’s such a small and compact hotel and was still able to allocate three pools and spa facilities. The staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Very nice hotel in a qute town with a beautiful view

Very nice hotel, with a beautiful view on the old church. It's a short walk to the small village, and a short drive to the red tower and the Popeye Village. The breakfast is very good and there is much choice.

- parkingspace in the hotel is not free, you can park on the street for free, but i think on a busy holiday like in summer you will have a problem

Fabulous location, stunning views, great cocktails at the cave bar and lovely breakfast

We could not fault the guest relations team's efforts. Whenever we had any issues, they tried offering a solution right away and followed up with us making sure we were happy. When we entered our room, we could smell smoke/cigarettes, and reported it right away. The receptionist lady sent a housekeeper to our room within 5 mins, who aired our room and used some air freshener. The next day, they called us asking if we could still smell the smoke, and if so, they were happy to give us another room. Even though stumbling across cockroaches at a hotel is an unpleasant experience, when we did see some at the spa area, we reported it, and a cleaner came right away, cleaned the whole area, and disinfected it instantly. At the hotel's restaurant, Da Ciccio Cucina, Sara went absolutely above and beyond our expectations. She could not have made our dinner any better. She is a true professional and a great asset to the restaurant. we received 5* service from her. Thank you, Sara.

- The lady at the private spa area was rather hostile. Since the private spa and public spa doors are literally next to each other, we did not know where to enter the first time. Upon entering the private spe, she was staring at us, not saying a word, until we asked her the question if we were in the wrong place. She clearly made us feel unwelcome and it was obvious we were in the wrong place. - Our room was a bit too cold during the day (19 degrees in Celsius) - we prefer 21-22, but we could not adjust the thermostat - There were some extremely loud guests, who started making noises almost at midnight. I tried calling reception but the call never went through. Eventually the noise stopped, which was absolutely horrendous while it lasted (around 10 mins). IT was so loud it woke me up from my sleep - During our first night on a Sunday there were over 10 kids at the spa. I never realised that there could be this many children during mid-January (I assumed kids attend school in January). If you are looking for a quiet spa experience, try finding an adults only option instead of this one, as we literally needed to leave the spa area the first day, as it was that unbearable from the screaming of the kids. For this reason, the hotel did not quite meet our expectations of an authentic spa hotel, even though it had the facilities to be classed as one

Wonderful

It was everything really nice, staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Aniket and ranjith who attended us in the cave bar. The room was clean and tidy, inside pool warm and comfy.

Buffet breakfast has a lot of different options but quality not the best, it was good though (good coffee)

Great value for money

Amazing value for money. Restaurants in the resort were excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Indoor pool was great to use in winter. Would definitely stay again.

Our floor smelt like cigarettes - level 5. It was awful everytime you got off lift. One of the ramps was very dangerous in a wheelchair as it was too steep and narrow, but still grateful they had it!

The room was spacious, and the pool area was very nice.

Very little fruit at breakfast, no water mron, kiwi. Kids also missed waffles. Dinner in the evening was very basic and not very tasty .

Review - good and bad

The receptionists are amazing, bartenders amazing, rooms good and clean, everyday cleaning and towels changing is amazing, breakfast was good (always the same) but good, the spa is small but OK, Cave bar is also a caffee with an amazing view. So I pointed out everything that was amazing :)

Food at the Cave bar is really disappointing. First day when we came and checked in, we went straight to the bar for the views and food since we were hungry. Chicken Cezar salad was anything but that, just boiled pieces of chicken unsalted and my husband pizza - classic Margharita with boiled eggs on top (?). Also I paid for room upgrade 70€ and I sincerely doubt I got an upgrade since we got a room by the pool inside without a view of the church and sea, and people are right in front of your terrace everyday on the sunbeds, so no privacy really on that level. Also after the breakfast one day, my husband took two bananas and didn't eat them at the table but carried them (for a minute later snack) and the manager or lady that carries about the buffe check in's almost started to yell "No food outside, it's written all over the restaurant, everybody knows that. Put the bananas back" I was in shock!!! I mean OK we'll put the bananas back please don't arrest us... Ofc we know not to bring the food outside and we were always polite and quite and normal (not like some individuals) and I wasn't going to bring eggs, sandwiches or cakes outside or eat them in the halls of the hotel, but just a banana. I mean, that sole incident made my experience terrible, I felt like a criminal. My husband was embarrassed, but I was not. I was enraged... Oh and yes by the way, kids can take whatever they like outside inside, can take all the fruits outside when they finish breakfast, but my husband can't Everything else was fine, but this experience was just that much unpleasant that it made my holiday at Pergola a little uncomfortable.

We loved our stay, don't have any major complains.

Very friendly staff! Location - great! the bus stop is near, just down the stairs to the main street. The hotel has a lift(A) that goes to the 0 floor so the stairs are also not a problem. Hotel/rooms - As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel has like 4 lifts (A-D) but we found it confusing only on the first day and later didn't see any problem. We had an apartment-room on the 7 floor with one bedroom and main living room/kitchen area with sea/church view and two bathrooms. The sea view is not very direct but it was wonderful both at day and at night. (someone at the reception was complaining that this is not a sea view but all building are facing the sea this way so we don't see a problem). The rooms were not modern but true to the pictures, clean and had everything we needed. The room was quiet (we stayed in January) but you can hear people when they are in the hall until they enter the rooms. The bed in the bedroom was very wide and comfortable for those who like hard mattress. It was my mom's birthday so the staff left balloons - lovely small touch. Food - at least in January we didn't see so many different restaurants opened around so we really enjoyed having both breakfasts and dinners included. Because of our fault, we arrived two days later, right before 10am when breakfast ends but the staff called and allowed us to still have breakfast because we had to check-in anyway two days earlier and paid for it. Clearly it depends on the taste and other factors but we found everything really delicious. Every morning the breakfast had a bit different selection of eggs or sweet warm dishes(pancakes, warm brownie, applie pie) and the dinner selection was even more various - from different pastas to meat dishes, fish, salads, seafood salads, sweets, etc. Spa area - really loved the chance to enjoy the free heated indoor pool in January, little gym, sauna and jacuzzi.

We didn't have major complains that really bothered but can mention these small things: indoor pool area: pool, jacuzzi, gym and sauna are in the same quite small area so it might get crowded. The area is simple do not expect some fancy spa center but if you are not picky - it is really nice to enjoy it after the day. It didn't have a separate room for changing but it can be done in the locked showers. The few lockers are only in the gym. The jacuzzi could be a little bit warmer - but nothing major to complain. Could have clearer signs until when the indoor pool, gym are open because it had different signs: one says until 20:00, others until 23:00. But of course we just needed to ask the staff to understand it - the indoor pool, gym, jacuzzi are until 23:00, sauna until 19:00, outdoor pools until 20:00. The sauna could be working for longer, that would be nice. dinner time: it is from 18:30 to 21:00 so perhaps until longer would be nice so you can manage to enjoy the gym/sauna/pool and then go to dinner. The sofa-bed in the main living room area was a bit weird - with legs up. The pillows were not very comfortable for someone who has neck pain - otherwise ok. There is this a bit weird "cold" smell in the rooms at first but this is probably the problem with many buildings in Malta without proper heating - we had the same smell in the hotel in Valetta. We turned on the heating on and then it was more pleasant - though the heating goes from that air conditioning thing - for someone who is not used to such it was hard to understand how it works:) One of the older lifts (C) are small and we almost got stuck once but after pressing some buttons it was fine again. Maybe better use the newer ones:)

Great location in the lovely town of Mellieha!

We had a lovely room with a terrace with lovely views of the Church and down to the sea, We were a family group and the Hotel suited everyone. A Spa for older members and the children particularly loved the pool area. The location in Mellieha was perfect. The small kitchen had everything we needed.

On our first night we struggled to sleep because of a lot of noise, I think caused by the air con units on the roof.We were directly below them and also next to an old noisy lift. To me this didn't fit the description of a deluxe room. We spoke to reception and they moved us to another room which was fine. The sofa beds were fine for children but could do with replacing as a bit broken.

A wonderful base from which to explore the north of Malta!

Extremely helpful and attentive staff. Excellent location to explore the wonderful village of Mellieha - very good restaurants nearby and some of the most amazing walks on the island.

The Pergola does not have the same amount of outdoor area as some other hotels in the area - but the infinity pool and view (and the unexpected Cave bar) - do make up for it!
